arbitrarianism

Arbitrarianism is a little practiced philosophy that many in the intellectual world have deemed 'useless' or 'non-progressive'. It is often associated with Nihilism, which immediately gives it cynical or dark overtones. It is a philosophy with a long history and many applicable uses in society.

Its major tenets are that life has no viewable or objective order. This will immediately put it down on one side of the dichotomy that Kant and Nietzsche have fought over for years. Having no objective truth means that life is more or less random. It is this randomness that Arbitrarianism finds its truth. Given that men have a deft ability to think abstractly or 'out of the box'; it is absurd that they would have a hardwired way of thinking. This fact is what Arbitrarianism is separated from the subjectivist branch. Whether it is a 'natural' philosophy or a culturally manifested one is pretty pertinent and in that way is very subjective to the subject itself. Still considering the chaotic nature in life, Arbitrarianism becomes an extremely potent tool for both justification of action and implementation of norms.

An Arbitrarianist does not consider the result of consequence of his action. He often doesn't consider the action itself it all. Having roots in Taoism, it utilizes the theory of 'Wu-Wei-Wu' which for translation purposes means 'actionless action'. An actionless action is an action that requires no thought or logical process that leads to a cause and effect relationship. A golf professional, or any sports professional for that matter does not think about the action in which he has done thousands of times in order to get the desired result. A tennis player with the perfect swing doesn't consider each movement individually, he just reacts subconsciously. Arbitrarianism, in simpler terms might be the actionless action of life. True Arbitrarianists don't consider the action, the consequence of even the proximity of anything; they just do what they do. In society they are often outcasts who are both brilliant and beautiful but are far too evolved to consider life possible among the ordered society in which we live in. They are professionals at life and do whatever they please, without thinking or even without desiring. This philosophy is very interpretive although there are lines, which it doesn't cross. Don't pigeon hole it with other philosophies because it is very different, very ancient, and nearly impossible to understand if you have not been borne to this way of thinking.
